Baby knitting/Tricoter pour bébé

I don't know what's happened but lately, all my friends are having babies! YAY!If you know me, you well know I couldn't pass the opportunity to knit something for those lovelies. I found 2 great patterns on Ravelry and knit them out of Woll Butt Cannstatt bought from Buttinette (60% wool, 25 % viscose, 15 % nylon). The good thing about this yarn is that you can put it in the washing machine, which is a plus when you knit for babies. It is meant to be a sock yarn so it is fairly resistant. And it is soft and has lovely... [Lire la suite]

Liam's Hyphen cardigan/Gilet Hyphen pour Liam

Here is a little something I've knitted for my baby boy. First, a little background story… I have this huge stash of acrylic blend yarn that I've bought along the years to knit stuff for my kids. Now that I've discovered the pure joy of wearing merinos wool, I don't want to use acrylic for my garments, but it's quite handy for the kids: you can wash it in the washing machine and it will last long in spite of the ill treatment.I have finally decided it is high time to use my stash, partly because it takes a lot of room, partly because... Jaja's birth gift / Le cadeau de naissance de Jaja

My sister's mother-in-law, Jaja, knows how to make a seriously cool gift. For my boy's birth, she sent me a kit to knit him a sweater: wool, buttons and pattern instructions. There was enough wool to knit it in a size 2, but I wanted him to wear it now, so I went with 12 months.I tried a new buttonhole technique that you do when the sweater is all sewn up. You take the stitch where you want your buttonhole and you use matching sewing thread to attach one horizontal strand of the stitch 2 rows down and the other one 2 rows up, and... [Lire la suite]

Giant baby towel / Sortie de bain géante

No, it's not the baby but the towel that's giant!Even though he's no giant, my little boy is now 8 months and a half and has outgrown all his towels, so I had to do something. Fortunately, I had foreseen this problem when the said baby boy wasn't even born! I had ordered the green fabric and lovely green elephants bias and even cut the pieces I needed when I was 7 months pregnant. But then I didn't have time to finish it. Nevermind, as everything was ready, it took me just a couple of hours to make the towel the other day, and now,... [Lire la suite]

high chair seat cover / coussin de chaise haute

My little baby is getting bigger and he can't stand staying on the ground in his bouncer while we're eating. He keeps shouting in that really annoying creaking voice he's just discovered he had. I therefore decided redoing the high chair seat was a top priority (for my ears). So I bought some oil cloth (easier to clean), took some quilting batting form my stash, ripped open all the seams of the old seat and used it to trace my pattern pieces, and even managed to reuse some parts (like the plastic bit for the feet and the... Baby jumper / Pull pour bébé

Long time no see! Doesn't mean I haven't been busy… though not so much sewing and knitting as taking care of the kids, the house, the job! Here's a little something I've knitted before Liam's birth and embroidered recently in the evenings (the baby has finally decided to go to sleep before 11 pm, yay!). I used a basic raglan jumper pattern in a stockinette stitch and added a checkerboard pattern at the bottom and a very boyish embroidery (love the buttons for the wheels!). I got inspired by the lovely lady who has a yarn shop... [Lire la suite]

Fox softie / Doudou renard

I couldn't resist! I got inspired by the fabrics on the baby quilt and just had to make a fox softie for this baby!As I couldn't find a free pattern that suited me, I invented one. And because I'm a very nice person, I give it to you, no strings attached, except that I'd love to see your creations, so please send me a picture!). It's HERE!

Tadaaaaa ! My baby kit is officially done! I finished this baby quilt yesterday and I'm so happy with it for so many reasons!First of all, I managed to finish it BEFORE the baby was born, which was my main concern. Then, I love the color combination and those lovely fabrics from the Riley Blake "natured" collection. The result is happy and fresh and perfect for a girl or a boy, and will match the yellow of the bedroom wall. Finally, I used a super cute and very soft fabric for the backing that makes this blanket especially... knit collection / Tricot forever

The knitting fever continues! I don't know about you, but I find it so relaxing to knit sitting comfortably sitting on the sofa by the fire while watching TV with my guy… How could I ever stop? Here's a winter coat for Baby in 9-12 months, all in garter stitch, knitted in one piece starting from a sleeve. I... [Lire la suite]
