Yarn bombing #1 / Tricoffiti #1

For those who are not yet aware of it, there has been a revolution in the knitting world a few years back. It's called yarn bombing and it appeared in 2005. The concept is simple: you mix knitting with street art and a good dose of humour and you get some wicked yarn bombing!!!

My first pair of socks / Ma première paire de chaussettes

My sister came over for the holidays and it was GREAT! It was also the occasion for her to see my handknitted socks in real life, and she fell in love with them, so I'm definitely going to make her a pair. I also showed her the first pair of socks I've ever knitted. It was a few (3?) years back. I chose the pattern By the Seine river by Dona Knits (in English and in French, free on Ravelry) and used the yarn Perfection by Bergère de France in a bright pink coulour (they don't make it anymore). The socks knitted... [Lire la suite]

Sock it! / Trouver chaussette à son pied

Yay I did it! I finally used a knitting pattern in English!I've been willing to try it for quite some time, but never found the gut to actually do it. I was afraid it would make knitting stressful, when I knit only for my pleasure and because I find it very relaxing. But let's be honest, there are a lot more patterns in English than in French out there. So I finally took the jump with a sock pattern I found on Ravery, called My cup of tea socks. The pattern is very detailed and was easy to follow. I used the Malabrigo sock... [Lire la suite]

Stef's cashmere scarf / L'écharpe en cachemire de Stef

Mr Guy wanted a scarf, but not just any scarf: a handknitted cashmere scarf! He likes luxury…So I went and found this amazing yarn Lotus Yarns' cashmere DK in turquoise (54) in Lil Weasel's e-shop.I selected a few patterns I liked on Ravelry and he chose the Voltaire scarf. The pattern is on 2 rows only, so it was really easy to remember and to knit. It took 2 skeins of yarn.He hasn't worn it yet because I litterally just finished it, but he liked it, yay! Mon homme voulait une écharpe, mais pas n'importe laquelle : une écharpe... [Lire la suite]

Jaja's birth gift / Le cadeau de naissance de Jaja

My sister's mother-in-law, Jaja, knows how to make a seriously cool gift. For my boy's birth, she sent me a kit to knit him a sweater: wool, buttons and pattern instructions. There was enough wool to knit it in a size 2, but I wanted him to wear it now, so I went with 12 months.I tried a new buttonhole technique that you do when the sweater is all sewn up. You take the stitch where you want your buttonhole and you use matching sewing thread to attach one horizontal strand of the stitch 2 rows down and the other one 2 rows up, and... [Lire la suite]

Baby jumper / Pull pour bébé

Long time no see! Doesn't mean I haven't been busy… though not so much sewing and knitting as taking care of the kids, the house, the job! Here's a little something I've knitted before Liam's birth and embroidered recently in the evenings (the baby has finally decided to go to sleep before 11 pm, yay!). I used a basic raglan jumper pattern in a stockinette stitch and added a checkerboard pattern at the bottom and a very boyish embroidery (love the buttons for the wheels!). I got inspired by the lovely lady who has a yarn shop... [Lire la suite]

knit collection / Tricot forever

The knitting fever continues! I don't know about you, but I find it so relaxing to knit sitting comfortably sitting on the sofa by the fire while watching TV with my guy… How could I ever stop? Here's a winter coat for Baby in 9-12 months, all in garter stitch, knitted in one piece starting from a sleeve. I... [Lire la suite]

knitted baby sack / nid d'ange en laine

Hey my wonderfully amazing readers!(Yes, I have a favour to ask…) Yes, I am going to bore you with yet another baby knit! But this time, I have a good reason for it.I've knitted this baby sack for my future baby in bright and happy colours. I'm particularly pleased with the colour combination and the ireegular stripes, but as you can see, I left a fairly big white stripe in the upper-middle part and I don't know what to do with it. Here's where YOU come in handy, because (hopefully) you're going to help me decide. Originally, I... [Lire la suite]

Baby clothes / Vêtements de bébé

Every time it's the same, when I'm pregnant I develop a sort of knitting fever! So after the socks I made for my daughter, the sweaters for my sister, and other things I will blog about shortly, I realized I was in the 6th month of my pregnancy which meant I could maybe start working on a baby kit. Here's the first thing I've made : (so very) small summer dungarees and socks to match. When I bought the yarn, I actually thought it was pearl grey. As it turns out, it's pale blue, which isnt' really unisex, and I don't know the sex of... [Lire la suite]

Socks! / Des chaussettes !

Just before Christmas, my good friend Elke gave my daughter a pair of bright red socks handknitted by her grandmother. Raphaelle LOVED them. So much so that she didn't want to take them off, literally! So I decided it was high time I learned how to knit socks. I knitted a pair for me last year but I was  following a pattern and didn't really understand the principle of it all. So first I found a good tutorial (and here I can't thank enough the wonderful owners of the shop where I buy all my notions, because they gave me the... [Lire la suite]
