Christmas market / Marché de Noël

So next Saturday there is a Christmas market in Lavelanet, a small town nearby where my husband works as an English teacher (yep, I'll tell you EVERYTHING!). One of his colleague (who also happens to be a friend) will keep a stand there to help raise money to organize a trip to Ireland for her pupils and she asked if I had stuff for sale. Well, I had nothing at the time, which was to weeks ago, except for a leather purse I've made ages ago (you can see it here, sorry, my blog was only in French at the time). And it wasn't under the... Sunny sweater / Un pull coloré

Here's the new sweater I've knitted for my daughter. It's the same wool as the peruvian hat's in my previous post. I chose a very simple pattern in one of my extremely numerous pattern books and added a pocket just for the fun of it. It was an easy quick knit, which offered me some rest, and I love the result, it's warm and colorful, plus I can find my daughter in a croud thanks to that yellow!   Voici le dernier pull que j'ai tricoté pour ma fille. C'est la même laine que pour le bonnet péruvien de mon message précédent... [Lire la suite]

Autumn is here at last! / L'automne arrive !

Until now we have enjoyed a summary weather but it's about to change. You'd think I'd be displeased with the upcomming cold and rain. On the contrary! I can't wait because I love Autumn and snuggling in warm knits and big fluffy scarves. And of course, this means I get to knit for my daughter, selfish me, and anyone who asks! The first thing I've knitted this season is a peruvian hat for my girl. I found the wool half price in a shop and it's very soft and lovely to knit with, and I couldn't resist this sunny color! I knitted in size... [Lire la suite]

Wrap along / Robe portefeuille

This is the first dress I sew for me. It's not perfect, but it's wearable, and I'm satisfied. I still have a lot of progress to make with sewing knits (I don't own a serger and it's only the 3rd knit item I sew) and with choosing the right size for me in the pattern (here I should have gone for a smaller size for the bodice and the sleeves but it's not the case with my lower area!). I've made this dress as part of the wrap along organized by the curvy sewing collective, a blog written by very talented curvy seamstresses where you can... [Lire la suite]

Toulouse craft fair / salon Tendances créatives de Toulouse

Today was just like one day in heaven… or what heaven looks like to me anyway: I learned a new craft (felting), I shopped in the biggest craft shop I've ever seen (actually dozens of different little shop specializing in different things, please check out Odile Bailloeul, fabric designer) and met someone amazingly talented and super-nice (Sylvie Ladame, textile artist and felting instructor), all that with my friend Elke from Wool, Me & More! Je viens de passer la journée au paradis… enfin dans ce qui pour moi ressemble au... [Lire la suite]

Knit tunic / Tunique en jersey

Right after the huge success of the knit leggings, I decided to try my hands on a tunic to go with them. It turned out great but I really can't let my daughter wear the two together: it looks too muche like she's got her jim jams on! Today she's wearing the tunic with grey leggings and it's a much better look! The pattern of the tunic comes from this japanese book, it was a dress but I didn't have enough fabric left after the leggings so I had to shorten it. I really like how it turned out, it's got a lot of flare.   Après le... [Lire la suite]

First time with knits / J'ai cousu du jersey !

One of the challenges that were awaiting me this September was to learn how to sew knits. They're so comfy and trendy that I could not just ignore them anymore! In the last months I have bought really nice knits to sew things for me and my daughter, but first, I decided to use some cheap-ish fabric because I didn't want to make a mess on the more expensive ones. I was really scared about sewing knits, because all kinds of urban legends are spread in the sewing blog community: they say it's slippery, that you can end up with a sleeve... [Lire la suite]

Too cool for school! / Le kit de rentrée

This weekend has seen a very productive me! I've been sewing my ass off (pardon my French) to be ready for school, which begins tomorrow. So here goes: a quilt, a pillow and 2 napkins for lovely little Rafalou and her big day! The chevron quilt is made... [Lire la suite]

Back to school! / C'est la rentrée !

I haven't posted in a while, but the summer hasn't been very productive for me sewing-wise. I've had A LOT of work and the weeks of real holidays I had were spent somewhere I couldn't wouldn't do anything but read and relax, go to the beach and chat with the people I love. Now for the oject of this post… Well it's not so much "back to school" as it is really my lovely daughter's first year in school (preschool actually) that's going to start next Tuesday! I couldn't resist the urge to make her her first schoolbag, and immediately... [Lire la suite]

Raph's playhouse / La petite maison de Raph

For our daughter's 3rd birthday, my husband and I decided we wanted to get her a playhouse. But my husband hates plastic playhouses and the wooden ones that come in kits are very expensive, and more often than not, they're made with low quality wood and you have to spend even more money to buy the paint. So we decided to DIY it. And we have many people to thank for it too: my father in law, my sister, my brother in law and even my nephew helped building it!!!We recycled a lot of materials, like the wood panelling that used to be on the...
