Audrey's hat / Le chapeau d'Audrey

My sister loooves hats. And I love buying her hats ! There's this little hat maker in a town nearby who makes very original ones and I buy one there every year. But this time I wanted to try something new, so I bought a couple of books about hat making, made my sister choose several hats she liked among those, and set myself to make her one. I wanted to give it to her on Saint Audrey's day, on June 23rd (we give each other presents on our saint's day) but that didn't happen due to a little something that took all of my time (I think... Fleece robe / Robe de chambre en polaire

Raphaëlle loooves when I make her new things. I wanted a quick and easy project, and as the evenings are getting colder and colder, I thought it was time to make her a new robe. At first she didn't get why I was making her a new one : "I already have one, Mummy!", but I pointed out that the sleeves weren't supposed to stop at her elbows! I asked her what colour she wanted and she said PINK without hesitation, then I showed her the various pinks on the website and she went for the pinkest pink ever! (I was rather surprised because she... [Lire la suite]

high chair seat cover / coussin de chaise haute

My little baby is getting bigger and he can't stand staying on the ground in his bouncer while we're eating. He keeps shouting in that really annoying creaking voice he's just discovered he had. I therefore decided redoing the high chair seat was a top priority (for my ears). So I bought some oil cloth (easier to clean), took some quilting batting form my stash, ripped open all the seams of the old seat and used it to trace my pattern pieces, and even managed to reuse some parts (like the plastic bit for the feet and the... Baby jumper / Pull pour bébé

Long time no see! Doesn't mean I haven't been busy… though not so much sewing and knitting as taking care of the kids, the house, the job! Here's a little something I've knitted before Liam's birth and embroidered recently in the evenings (the baby has finally decided to go to sleep before 11 pm, yay!). I used a basic raglan jumper pattern in a stockinette stitch and added a checkerboard pattern at the bottom and a very boyish embroidery (love the buttons for the wheels!). I got inspired by the lovely lady who has a yarn shop... [Lire la suite]

Artist bag / Sac d'artiste

My niece is turning 8 this summer and she likes drawing, colouring, etc. so I thought it would be great to make her a bag to carry paper and pencils/felt tips everywhere, which can come in handy during the holidays.Ages ago, I found this great tutorial on Pinterest and pinned it because I was sure it would come in handy. (Sorry guys, it's in French, just ask if there is something you want translated.) Actually I wanted to make it last Christams but got a bit overwhelmed by all my Christmas sewing and knitting! Well… better late than... [Lire la suite]

Quick baby bibs / Bavoirs express

It's been a while! Yep, I've been pretty busy this last couple of months, what with having a baby and all that! The baby is a boy and I can't believe he's already 2 months old and already beginning to sleep through the night! Well done champ! Before he was even born, I couldn't resist making a few bibs for him with a pattern I found on Pinterest called the 30 minute bib. Be careful if you want to make one though. I had to enlarge the part that goes around the baby's head because when I used the pattern as it is, it took me... [Lire la suite]

Summer-Spring collection / Collection printemps-été

I realised a couple of weeks back that my daughter had nothing to wear for a warmer weather. Her old Spring-Summer gear is either too small or can't be cleaned to a satisfactory level, so okay to play in the garden, but a big no no for school. Usually she wears her cousin's hands-me-down, but everything summery was in 5T and Raphaelle is still 3/4T, poor little thing! I took this opportunity to try my brand new Juki serger! It's a pleasure not to have to zigzag around every single fabric piece, and it's waaaaaay easier to sew knit... [Lire la suite]

Fox softie / Doudou renard

I couldn't resist! I got inspired by the fabrics on the baby quilt and just had to make a fox softie for this baby!As I couldn't find a free pattern that suited me, I invented one. And because I'm a very nice person, I give it to you, no strings attached, except that I'd love to see your creations, so please send me a picture!). It's HERE!

Tadaaaaa ! My baby kit is officially done! I finished this baby quilt yesterday and I'm so happy with it for so many reasons!First of all, I managed to finish it BEFORE the baby was born, which was my main concern. Then, I love the color combination and those lovely fabrics from the Riley Blake "natured" collection. The result is happy and fresh and perfect for a girl or a boy, and will match the yellow of the bedroom wall. Finally, I used a super cute and very soft fabric for the backing that makes this blanket especially... Easter garland / Guirlande de Pâques

I'm pretty sure you already know but this weekend was one of the two chocolate feasts of the year: Easter of course! And just like last year, I couldn't resist making a little something to decorate the garden (I must have something for garlands!). This year, I used my brand new knowledge in crochet, acquired in a series of classes in my local yarn shop (more about that later).I crocheted 10 flowers, knitted 3 leaves, assembled them, and then I put my daughter to work: she painted a few bunnies and eggs to put in between the flowers. ...
