high chair seat cover / coussin de chaise haute

My little baby is getting bigger and he can't stand staying on the ground in his bouncer while we're eating. He keeps shouting in that really annoying creaking voice he's just discovered he had. I therefore decided redoing the high chair seat was a top priority (for my ears). So I bought some oil cloth (easier to clean), took some quilting batting form my stash, ripped open all the seams of the old seat and used it to trace my pattern pieces, and even managed to reuse some parts (like the plastic bit for the feet and the thick foam for the base of the seat). I have to say it was a bit of a challenge for me as I had never made someting like that, but if it's far from perfect, I think the result is okay. Mission accomplished.

And most importantly, now my boy can watch us while we eat, and has (mostly) stopped shouting. He has even begun tasting some proper food ! Hurray for the new seat! (I'm a teeny tiny bit overexcited…)

Mon petit bébé grandit à vitesse grand V et il ne supporte plus de rester par terre dans son transat pendant qu'on mange. Il n'arrête pas de crier de cette charmante voix grinçante qu'il vient juste de se découvrir. J'ai donc décidé que refaire le siège de la chaise haute était ma priorité (enfin celle de mes oreilles). Du coup, j'ai acheté du coton enduit (plus facile à nettoyer), j'ai pris du molleton à patchwork que j'avais en stock, défait toutes les coutures de l'ancien siège, utilisé les morceaux pour tracer mon patron et même réussi à réutiliser certaines parties (comme la plaque en plastique pour les pieds et la mousse épaisse de l'assise). Je dois dire que c'était un peu un challenge car je n'avais jamais fait ce genre de chose, et si le résultat est loin d'être parfait, je trouve que ça va quand même. Mission réussie.

Et le plus important, c'est que maintenant mon loulou peut nous regarder pendant qu'on mange et a (en grande partie) arrêté de crier. Il a même commencé à goûter de la vraie nourriture ! Hip hip hip hourrah pour le nouveau siège ! (Je sais, je m'enflamme…)
